Sara Jane was born as the first and only child of Boris Karloff and his fourth wife Dorothy Stine. Coincidentally, the day of her birth, a November 23, was also her father’s birthday and at the same time filming day of the Karloff film Frankenstein’s son . When the now-51-year-old father received the news of his daughter’s birth, he rushed to the nearby hospital, as he later told the daughter – to the horror of the nurses – without the famous monster mask .

As an adolescent, she did not always say it was easy as the daughter of a famous movie monster and was teased at school. She never wanted to be an actress and had little relationship with the film world in Hollywood , but occasionally accompanied her father to the set and to stage performances like Peter Pan , where the actor once did not give the fiend .

That changed only decades later and began with a German feature film : In the strip My lovely Monster to a silent movie monster she played next to u. a. Ferdy Mayne , Matthias Fuchs , Forrest J Ackerman and Silvio Francesco (!) Themselves. The film from Germany became a flop , but from then on Sara Karloff acted as a consultant and contributor to mostly US documentaries , television and video productionsactive until today. Almost always there are films about her father or the history of the horror film in general. As an actress of a role she does not appear, but always as herself.

Sara Karloff dedicated since the 1990s throughout the care of the memory of her father and his marketing : According to more recent California law, the reserve heir of a famous person on the basis of California Celebrity Rights Act’s to 50 years after his death, the rights to name, imitation, Voice, signature and person, according to the Federal Trademark Laws for trademarks similar rights without time limit. She maintains contact with fan clubs , will take over sponsorship at festivals and exhibitions , lectures and writes forewords for books and videos not only about her father, but about horror film in general and is considered one of the leading figures of the American culture of remembrance of the golden age of horror – movie classics .

Sara Karloff has two sons and lives with her husband in California on a ranch , her great-great-aunt was Anna Leonowens , historical model for Anna and the king.
